THE ORGANIZATION
Board of Directors: Board members are elected annually by the membership. Board members are responsible for reviewing the current status of the credit union and establishing policies.
Supervisory Committee: Members are appointed by the Board of Directors. Committee members are responsible for performing and reviewing internal audits and verification of accounts.
Credit Committee: Committee members are elected annually by the membership. Members are responsible for reviewing loan applications and lending practices.
Auditors and Examiners: Annually federal auditors and examiners investigate the credit unions financial status and compliance with existing laws that govern Federal Credit Unions.
MEMBERSHIP
Credit Union membership is limited to the persons provided for in the field of membership. Each membership application is subject to committee approval. A minimum share balance of $5.00 (one share) constitutes membership.
Who can be a member?
The field of membership shall be limited to those having the following common bond:
Employees of :
- Georgia Pacific Company (Ferguson Mill in Lawrence County, Mississippi)
- Mid-Continent Wood Products Manufacturing Division (Mississippi)
- Mid-Continent Wood Products Manufacturing Division (Gloster, Roxie and Goss, Mississippi)
- Mid-Continent Wood Products Manufacturing Division (Rex Timber, Inc.-Gloster, Mississippi)
- Miles Lumber Company (Silver Creek, Mississippi)
Membership is also available to spouses of persons who died while within the field of membership of this credit union; employees of this credit union; persons retired as pensioners or annuitants from the above employment; members of their immediate families; organizations of such persons. Once a member always a member if you so desire.
All savings accounts are insured to $100,000.00 by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA) an agency of the U.S. Government.
Lifetime membership: If you leave the employment of Georgia Pacific or Miles Lumber, your credit union membership is not terminated. Once a member always a member, if your account is kept current and in order.
YOUNG MEMBERS ARE WELCOME
Participation is the name of the game. At your credit union, that means involvement by all members of the family, including the youngsters. Getting younger members on board as regular users of the credit union is important. Learning to save and borrow wisely provides invaluable financial training, plus introduces young members to the advantages of doing business with the credit union.Young members are encouraged to stop by their credit union and find out about the services available to them. The credit union can help young members set up a savings plan for college, a special vacation, or a major purchase. Young members may even be qualified to take out a loan.
