NCUA Approves Community Charter Request for Ferguson FCU

PRESS RELEASE – April 4, 2014

The National Credit Union Administration has approved Ferguson Federal Credit Union's request for a community charter. This charter will allow Ferguson FCU to open membership to the 12,000 people in the Lawrence County area.

Ferguson Federal Credit Union celebrated its 46th anniversary this year and credits its years of success to its members. As a not-for-profit, completely member-owned cooperative, we exist to meet the financial needs of our membership.

"The Lawrence County market is constantly changing, and now we have positioned ourselves to serve more of the community," Leslie Pitts, CEO says. "Our members own the credit union, so their satisfaction is priority number one."

Chartered in 1968, Ferguson Federal Credit Union is a full-service financial institution serving more than 3,400 members throughout Lawrence County. The core membership is industry based. The credit union plans to keep this original part of its charter and hope to continue to thrive by expanding memberships to the community as well. The credit union holds more than $58 million in assets, with 6 employees and one branch, 577 NA Sandifer Highway, Monticello MS 39654.

Membership to the credit union will not only be available to residents of Lawrence County but to everyone who lives, works, worships, goes to school or owns businesses in the county. Ferguson’s Board of Director, Jackie Snowden, says, "The field of membership is made up of good, hard-working residents who are striving to attain affordable vehicle loans, home ownership, and save for a brighter financial future. This revision to our charter will give everyone in Lawrence County an opportunity to become familiar with the many services that Ferguson Federal Credit Union has to offer them."
